In partnership with Hashinclude, BPCL launched an innovative e-commerce platform under the "URJA Devi" initiative, empowering rural women to run retail outlets. The Angular-powered web app and SvelteKit-based PWA enable efficient inventory, POS, and checkout management.
Client
BPCL - URJA Devi Initiative
Challenge
BPCL aimed to empower village women to become entrepreneurs by enabling them to run micro-retail outlets in remote areas. The key challenge was to build a scalable, multilingual digital platform that could streamline inventory logistics, manage POS systems, support diverse payments, and remain accessible and intuitive for non-tech-savvy users.
Solution
A feature-rich e-commerce system was developed with Angular for the web and SvelteKit for the PWA, ensuring responsive performance across devices. The system supports real-time inventory tracking, multilingual UI (Hindi & English), QR-based coupon integration, delivery scheduling, and multi-payment checkout. Its intuitive UX and PWA capabilities ensure usability in low-connectivity areas, while seamless logistics support from BPCL empowers women to run their stores with confidence and ease.
Result
The URJA Devi system transformed rural commerce by simplifying retail operations for village women. It enhanced operational efficiency through streamlined inventory, POS, and payment management. With better accessibility and user experience, BPCL’s initiative now drives economic empowerment, promotes self-reliance, and strengthens last-mile retail infrastructure across India.
